Blog #5 My AP English Exam Experience

I wasn't too anxious about taking the AP English exam, but the multiple choice was still as tough on the brain as the mock tests we take in class. I do feel that the full mock exam that some of us took on Saturday helped as I was able to get a simulation of how taking the test was, which allowed me to know what I was going to get into. Although I expected the AP English exam to be as difficult as the mock test (which was the case for me), I wasn't too tense and just focused on what needed to be done. The gym environment didn't really matter to me, but I really disliked the small desks because my back and neck felt strained when bending down to read and write. On the other hand, I actually liked the essay questions; The passages were an interesting read and I actually enjoyed writing the essays a bit, much to my surprise. And as for my hopes and dreams, they still remain intact given that they aren't really defined yet. I am finally done with this thing!

Blog #4 Satire Project Reflection

I find technology to be an important topic for me because of the fact that technology has basically taken over our generation. With technology constantly developing, it has come to a point where it has become apart of our daily lives. Moreover, students primarily do their work on computers/laptops and the same can be said for businesses too. Among these various technologies, phones are one of the more prominently used alongside the internet. But given that's the case, addiction to them, especially among kids and teenagers, has become an issue in society. I believe the prime reason for this problem existing is due to the fact that technology has improved immensely since the late 1900s. For example, most computers are now faster when it comes to surfing the web without much slowdown and phones can do more than just call nowadays. In addition, games can be played and social media has become widely popular around the U.S. with platforms like Instagram and Snapchat...
Blog 3: Rhetoric Analysis Essay - "Shame" by Dick Gregory Activist, comedian, and nutrition expert, Dick Gregory, in his autobiography, “Shame,” recounts a humiliating experience from his childhood. Gregory’s purpose is to recall his childhood experience that taught him what shame really was and how social status affected him, which reflects on the people around him and himself. Gregory does this through the use of personal-case examples, repetitive diction, and imagery. Gregory used personal-case example to reach out to the reader’s sense of reality by showing how life can take an unexpected turn at the worst moments. In “Shame,” Gregory describes one of his positive experience with Helene Tucker, in which he explained how “she’d wink … and say hello,” which made him felt good. However, immediately after his teacher called Gregory out for not having a father, that was when Gregory learned what shame really was as his classmates and crush were right there when it happene...
Blog 2: Speech (Ethos, Logos, Pathos) Subject: Should School Start Later Audience: School Students Purpose: To inform the audience why school should start later and persuade them to join my side (perhaps even taking action in their own school) Speaker: A student who lives in Massachusetts Ladies and gentlemen, as students, I’m positive that you’ve all, at one point, struggled with getting out of bed to go to school, possibly oversleeping and missing the bus. As a high school student myself who has attended school since pre-K, I’m very much aware of this as I’ve been through the same. We get up as early as, let’s say, 6:30 am to catch a bus that always seems to come at a snail’s pace just to spend six tiring hours at school, only to come home to more excruciating work that seems to last a lifetime. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if school just started an hour later? Not only would it give us more time to sleep, but it would also lead to improvements in mood and ...
My name is Danny Chen from period nine's AP English class. At the time of this writing, I'm a junior. I'm on the Francis Lewis boy's varsity volleyball team and I plan on joining more teams/clubs this year. I enjoy playing a variety of sports like basketball and handball and I sometimes like writing down random story ideas that pop up in my head on scrap paper. As a person, I'm generally laid-back. There will be days where I am quiet and days where I am more energetic in class.        On the other hand, I volunteer quite a bit in school. Since I'm in the JROTC program, I'm able to help out in certain events like clean-up and car wash. When I go to college, I plan on majoring in the medical field to become either a pharmacist, physician assistant, or pediatrician. The reason I choose to go for the medical field is because it interests me. However, in case I have to change my major for some reason, becoming a programmer is my runner-up job.
